Letter to all Donors and Supporters from Maria "Malou" Sheets, the Executive Director of AHS72IAF:
| It was a very good year! Thank you for all your donations and contributions, in kind and financially, the Scholarship Program was officially launched on May 25, 2009 during the Scholar's Orientation held in Makati City, Philippines. The scholars are doing well and are receiving their monthly allowances as scheduled. They are consistently keeping in touch with both the officers and volunteers of Araullo High School 1972 International Alumni Foundation (AHS72IAF) and the Philippines based "Dangal Araullo High School 1972 Alumni Association, Inc. (DAHS1972AAI). They also communicate on a regular basis with the school's Guidance Counselor. The 2009-2010 academic school year started in June 2009 and ends in March 2010 covering four grading periods. On September 25, 2009, AHS72IAF Vice-President and Executive Director Maria "Malou" Sheets and Treasurer Agnes Maufit had the opportunity to visit the Philippines and met with the scholars: Charmaine dela Pena, Catherine L. Carpe, Reinier Jhan L. Briones, Karen Vallao, and Sweetzel Joy O. Sabangan. Also present were AHS Guidance Counselor Julie Dabandan, DAHS1972AAI officers Tess Calisay and Ric Pinca and member Lumen Montano. During the meeting, we were able to discuss various aspects of the scholars' school performance, their experiences, and difficulties. We reviewed copies of their report cards and all of them passed the first grading period. Some attained average grades and others attained above average grades. They all promised to do better in the second grading period. On December 17, 2009, the scholars gathered together at the office of the school principal and had photos taken in front of the Christmas tree. Also present were Guidance Counselor Julie Dabandan and Lumen Montano. This is their way of sending warm Christmas greetings to all donors, contributors, supporters, officers and members of AHS72IAF, DAHS192AAI. They also provided copies of their report cards to Ms. Dabandan and Ms. Montano that showed an improvement of their school performance for the second grading period. The scholars want everyone to know that they are grateful and appreciative of everyone's kindness and commitment to keep them in school and achieve their goals in life. They all want to rise out of poverty and become conscientious members of society. Attached are photos taken on September 25, 2009 and December 17, 2009 alongwith copies of the scholar's handwritten Christmas messages. On behalf of the Officers, Board Members, and supporters of AHS72IAF and DAHS1972AAI, we thank you for standing by us in 2008 and 2009 and we look forward to your continued support in 2010. The scholars will be promoted to their fourth year of high school and are scheduled to graduate in 2011. More than ever, we request you to support us in our effort to send them to college and pave their way towards a career path. We wish you A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Very truly yours, Maria "Malou" Sheets |
