WHY DO I DESERVE TO BE A SCHOLAR OF AHS1972 INTERNATIONAL ALUMNI FOUNDATION My father is a taxi driver and earns at least 300 pesos/day for the whole family. My mother is a plain housewife. I am 13 years old and the second child in a family of 4 girls and 1 boy. My eldest sibling is 15 years old and the youngest is 8 years old. In the year 2002, my mother was diagnosed with Lupus. She was in and out of the hospital and we even celebrated Christmas and New Year there. With her sickness, she almost lost her memory and cannot remember anyone in the family. Our deep faith in God kept us strong and we continuously prayed for her recovery. Thank God, the doctor at the PGH even supported us with laboratory expenses. We sought assistance from the Senate and lucky enough, they gave us one year supply of medicines. After two years of fighting with her sickness, my mother recovered and is now taking her daily dose of medicines. I am happy and thankful because my mother survived and until now surviving even we are all having a hard time where to find food for the day and for the coming days. My father is driving a taxi but not on a regular basis. This is our family’s story which I am sharing with you to let you know that I really need this scholarship. It will give me hope and will help me continue my studies and praying to finish up to college. I will not stop until I reach my goal. Thank you very much.
